For millers who rely on traditional processing methods, manual parboiling offers a level of flexibility and operational control that automated systems don’t. It lets you adjust soaking times, steaming intensity, and drying conditions based on paddy type, ambient weather, and buyer demands.
But it also needs trained operators who understand the process like the back of their hand.
The SKF Conventional Paddy Processing Plant is designed for millers who want to keep every stage in their own hands. Each process step – from soaking to steaming to drying – is controlled manually, giving operators the flexibility to adjust timings and temperatures as needed.
Built using SKF’s decades of engineering experience, this plant combines durable construction with process reliability. It doesn’t depend on PLCs or automated sensors, keeping operations simple, direct, and free from electronic maintenance issues.
This setup is ideal for small-scale rice millers and processors with limited space and lower production volumes. It fits businesses that prefer traditional methods either for their cost benefits or because they want tighter operator-led control over rice texture, colour, and output.
Here’s why millers choose SKF’s Manual Parboiling Plant:
Built with durable materials for reliable long-term use
In the manual plant, raw paddy is soaked under operator supervision, with soaking time adjusted based on grain type and weather. After draining, paddy is transferred to steam cookers, where temperature and steaming time are manually controlled to achieve the desired level of gelatinisation. Finally, the steamed paddy is sent to dryers, where drying temperature and duration are set by the operator to reach storage-safe moisture levels before cooling and packing.
SKF Elixer has been building parboiling plants for every segment of the rice processing industry for over 40 years. From advanced automated units to traditional manual plants, we design systems that keep production reliable and your team in full control – every day, every season.
